The Building Process
Make a wish-list – Think about the things you like and don’t like at your current location. What would you change? Imagine the features you would want in a new home. Consider the location, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, exterior appearance, kitchen design, and the amount of space you’ll need for entertainment and family living.
Set your priorities – To get organized, start with your wish list. Try to rank each feature’s importance. For many new home owners, first-class kitchen space is a must. For others the ability to entertain in a spacious and welcoming environment is important. Rank the features that mean the most to you and your family members in order and then divide them into primary and secondary needs. It’s important to take everyone’s priorities into consideration.
Determine a rough budget – Even though you aren’t going to have a firm idea of what everything will cost, it is important to get a general idea of what you are willing and/or able to spend on your new family home. Consider what you’ve saved, how much you can afford to borrow, and what will you have after selling your existing home. Don’t forget there will be a cost for the lot as well.
Selecting your home site – Location is often a key factor in how happy you will be in your new community. After reviewing your wish list to get an idea of the type of house and its size, next consider where you would like to live. Do you want a more urban setting or the privacy of having more acreage? What is the quality of the area’s amenities, including parks, shopping, schools, and public transportation? How will you commute to work? Geography may be a consideration. Do you like wooded hills or landscaped housing plans? How close to major roadways do you need to be?
Designing your dream home – This part is often the most fun as you begin to see your dream home come to life on paper. On the internet you can find an abundance of sites where you can view existing house plans. Most often you can narrow your search by size, number of bedrooms, or by architectural features (i.e. ranch, two-story, contemporary, traditional, etc.) You may want to use an architect of your choosing to design something that is truly unique or we can arrange those services for you. One thing is certain, Inselmini Construction offers decades of design–build experience to guide and advise you through the new home building process.
Hire respected experts – Almost anyone can swing a hammer, but only a craftsman can make a home. If you want an outstanding finished product, then begin by working with the best general contractor. Knowledge and expertise will prove invaluable when building your new home and save money in the long run. When you invest in Inselmini Construction, you’re investing in a job well done and peace-of-mind getting there.
